CENTRAL, S.C. – The Spring Hill College volleyball team survived a furious rally by the Southern Wesleyan University Warriors to secure a hard-fought 3-2 (25-21, 25-17, 23-25, 20-25, 15-7) victory in an SSAC match on Saturday afternoon at historic Tysinger Gymnasium.

The Warriors (20-9, 8-2 SSAC) trailed Spring Hill 2-0, but regrouped to take the next two sets and hold a 3-0 lead in the deciding fifth set before SHC righted their ship to win a 15-7 decision.

Senior Sha Sha Buchanan and freshman Molly Griffin each collected 14 kills on the day with Buchanan picking up six block assists and Griffin adding a solo stop, two more block assists and 26 receptions.

Senior setter Taryn Nash sent out 55 assists with 12 digs and senior libero Meredith Donald scooped up her career-high of 33 digs. Other standout Badger performances included Sami Hantak with 11 kills and six total blocks, Megan Haber with 12 kills and seven total blocks.

Jacinta Hoffpauir had 16 kills to lead the Warriors while Megan Widener handed out an impressive 57 assists and Hayley Hoover brought in 26 digs with 32 receptions.

As a team, SHC hit for a .205 average (63-22-200) with just one ace, 95 digs, and 16 total team blocks while SWU had an attack percentage of .131 (61-34-206) with 99 digs, three aces and five total blocks.

The 25-23 loss in the third set snapped a 42-set win streak for the Badgers (24-3, 10-0 SSAC). Spring Hill next visits the Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO) Lady Knights (11-7) in a non-conference tilt at The Castle on Tuesday night for the third match of a current seven-match road swing for the Badgers.
