The Spring Hill College softball and baseball teams will host "Strikeout for a Cure" during their home games this Friday, April 17, beginning with a softball doubleheader at 1 p.m. and closing with a baseball game at 6 p.m. For every strikeout recorded by every team's pitching staff that day, SHC will collect pledges from the spectators in support of research for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Before the SHC softball game versus Thomas University, six year-old Mobile native "Isaac" will throw out the first pitch. Isaac was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL) when he was five years old and is still receiving maintenance chemotherapy.
The softball game will be at Murray Field while the baseball team will play LSU-Alexandria at 6 p.m. on Stan Galle Field. Admission to both events is free.
Both Badger baseball and softball teams will wear red ribbons and the bases will be painted red in support of the fund raising effort. Spring Hill athletes from every sport will be on hand at both events soliciting donations and pledges.
