On Friday evening, the Spring Hill College women's tennis team was stopped by No. 16 Xavier University-New Orleans by the score of 7-2 at the University of New Orleans Tennis Center.
Spring Hill was down 2-1 after the doubles matches as only the No. 3 team of McCall Hedrick and Alex Tovar could take an 8-4 win. In singles play, sophomore Lynne Fritscher took an exciting 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-8) win on the No. 5 court.
The Spring Hill women (3-3, 3-3 GCAC) will travel to Jackson, Miss., on Saturday to face two conference foes in Tougaloo and Belhaven Colleges. Xavier moved to 16-5 on the season and finished GCAC play 8-0 on the year.
