The Spring Hill College softball team lost both ends of a non-conference doubleheader with Thomas University by the scores of 3-0 and 2-0 on Friday afternoon.
In the first game, Thomas scored all the runs they would need in the first inning off SHC starter Brittany Abate (2-12) when Cassie Sparks drove a 2-run double to right and Candice Wimmer followed with an RBI single to left field.
Abate would allow just five hits and two walks in her complete-game loss, but struck out five Thomas batters.
Christina Skullas moved to 8-8 with the win and Courtney Scruggs picked up the save.
Thomas (15-22) again scored a run in the second game's 1st inning off a Sparks single to centerfield and would add an insurance run in the 5th inning with a sacrifice fly to right by Camille Herndon.
Samantha Brooks (8-11) took the complete-game loss for the Badgers this time with Sparks taking the win and Scruggs collecting her second save of the afternoon. Brooks allowed just four hits with two strikeouts and no walks.
Spring Hill (15-28, 4-6 GCAC) will wrap up the regular season on Tuesday at the University of Mobile (29-10, 4-6 GCAC) in a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
