Spring Hill got three points from Daniel Li while Chris Link added three more by default Friday in a 7-2 men's tennis victory over Tougaloo in the opening round of Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC) Tournament at the Copeland-Cox Tennis Center.
The victory advanced the Badgers (3-7) to a 3 p.m. Friday semifinal against top-seeded and two-time defending champion Xavier.
Li and Link defeated Kahil Peets and Antonio Thames 8-6 at No. 1 doubles. Li beat Peets 6-4, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, and Link defeated Meschack Barker 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2 singles.
Tougaloo (1-9) had just four available players and was forced to forfeit matches at No. 3 doubles and No. 5 and 6 singles.
Spring Hill will play Xavier (#1 seed) in the semifinals at 3 p.m. Friday.
