Freshman Monica Zeringue was named to the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC) All Conference team at shortstop by the conference coaches following a standout rookie season.
Zeringue, a native of Destrehan, La., actually moved to shortstop from centerfield midway through the 2009 season where she made an immediate impact shoring up the Lady Badger middle infield.
At the plate, the 5'4" Zeringue led SHC with a .304 average and 45 hits. She also led the team with 27 runs scored, eight doubles, three triples, and 59 total bases.
Zeringue spent the entire season in the leadoff position where she collected 11 RBIs, a team-high 16 walks and struck out just 4 times. She was also a perfect 12-for-12 in stolen base attempts.
