On Monday, Head Women's Basketball Coach Ray Fron and the Spring Hill College Athletic Department announced the signing of guard Kylie Casey of Navarre, Fla., to a Letter of Intent.
Casey prepped at Navarre High School under Head Coach David Noles where she was a 2-year varsity starter. She averaged 11 points per game as a junior and 14 points per contest as a senior. Following the 2008-09 season, she was named to the All Area team.
Statistically, Casey shot 37% (80-218) from the field in her senior season and 28% (31-112) from behind the 3-point arc. She also pulled in 1.7 rebounds per game to go along with 46 assists and 18 steals on the season.
"I am excited to have Kylie come on board," said Fron. "She has proven to be an exceptional passer and has a good knowledge of the game. She comes from a winning program and excels in the classroom, as well. Kylie will give us some good competition at the guard spot."
During her high school career, Casey played both basketball and tennis earning eight varsity letters and qualifying for each sport's All Academic team every year she played. She will graduate in the top 2% of her class and has participated in over 100 hours of community service.
She plans a career in Health Care, but has not yet decided which major to pursue. While pursuing a degree at Spring Hill, Casey will also be enrolled in ROTC.
