On Thursday afternoon, Spring Hill College senior cross country runner Patrick Aucoin was selected as a second team member of the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America® Cross Country Team in the College Division as voted on by the membership of the Collegiate Sports Information Directors Association's (CoSIDA).
The International Studies & Hispanic Studies major from River Ridge, La., was recognized by the national organization of sports information directors for his outstanding academic achievements over his 4-year career with the Badgers. Aucoin has previously been selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® All-District IV team the past two seasons.
The award recognizes athletes holding a career GPA of 3.3 or higher while at the same time making significant on-field contributions to their team.
Aucoin was the 2007 and 2008 Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC) Male Runner of the Year and won the GCAC Individual Championships in 2007 and 2008. He qualified for the NAIA National Championships in his freshman, junior and senior seasons.
This spring Aucoin graduated summa cum laude from Spring Hill College with a B.S. from the college's Honors Program and received the Badgers' Rev. J. Lambert Dorn, S.J. Award that recognizes the senior student-athlete graduating with the highest career GPA.
