The Spring Hill College Golf Course will close to the public July 13 through mid-October for renovations and improvements.
During recent months, a fungus has affected the course greens. The greens will be replaced with a new ultra dwarf hybrid grass called Champion Bermuda. This turf provides an exceptional true putting surface for the beginner as well as the most experienced golfer. During these next several weeks, some improvements will also be made to the course clubhouse and dining area.
The golf course is Mobile's oldest public golf course and has been serving the greater Mobile area since 1930. It is an 18-hole, par 72 course located on the campus of Spring Hill College. Facilities include a pro shop and snack bar. The course underwent a complete renovation in 1996.
