The Spring Hill College men's soccer team suffered its second consecutive shutout loss to open the 2009 season with a 1-0 downturn to Truett-McConnell College from Georgia.
The game's only score came in the 36th minute when the Bears' Lamin Sawaneh drilled a header into the back of the SHC net off a beautifully placed right-to-left crossing pass from John Burke.
Spring Hill goalkeeper Dan Criscione suffered the hard-luck loss and made six saves versus 13 TMC shot attempts.
The Badgers managed just eight shots versus the Bears' defense as keeper Rolando Ambriz made two saves for TMC.
Spring Hill allowed just six corner kicks and took four corners on the opposite side of the field.
The physical game saw TMC (2-1) record 16 fouls including three yellow card warnings while the Badgers committed 13 fouls with one yellow card.
Spring Hill (0-2) will next host No. 17 Northwood University (Fla.) (0-0-1) at 4 p.m. on Sunday in the closing match of the 3rd Annual Spring Hill Invitational. Truett-McConnell will play Northwood on Saturday at 4 p.m. on Library Field.
