The Spring Hill College men's cross-country team opened the 2009 season with a 4th place finish out of seven teams at the University of Troy's Trojan Invitational on Saturday morning.
As a team, the Badgers clocked a total time of 1:35:02.20 with their top five finishers averaging 19:00.44 over the 5-kilometer course.
Freshman John Redman from Spanish Fort High School paced the Badgers with a 23rd place finish out of 50 runners and a total time of 18.32.64.
Other competitors for SHC were Will Kirkikis (26th) from Kenner, La. at 18:47.23, Sean Christie (31st) from New Orleans, La., at 19:05.45, Mark Kirkikis (32nd) from Kenner at 19:13.83, Garrett (33rd) from Spanish Fort High at 19:23.05, Thomas Kinsey (34th) from Fairhope, Ala., Pen Pace (38th) from Dallas, Texas, Brian Otero (40th) from Miami, Fla., at 20:35.04, Christian Boyer (43rd) from Mobile at 21:38.29 and Bryan Dulion (44th) from Pensacola, Fla., at 22:35.06.
"It was good to see our times so close together to open the season," said SHC Head Coach Joe Williams. "That's what I wanted to see, so I think we have to look at this as a successful start to the year."
