The Spring Hill College men's soccer team suffered its fourth consecutive loss to open the 2009 season with a 2-0 shortfall at the No. 17 University of West Florida Argonauts.
UWF (3-0) opened the scoring with a goal in the 15th minute when Daniel Martini scorched a shot from 30 yards out past SHC freshman keeper Tommy Campbell making his first career start.
SHC made an inspired defensive stand throughout the second half and did not crack until the 89:41 mark when UWF's Stephan Munoz scored on a breakaway.
Campbell faced 12 shot attempts in his college debut and made five saves before being relived by Cory Bronenkamp in the second half. Bronenkamp was making his first appearance since suffering a concussion in 2007 and recorded three saves versus 11 Argos shot attempts.
Elliot Purdom took the win for UWF in goal facing five shots with two saves.
Spring Hill (0-4) will next host Mississippi College on Monday at 4 p.m. on Library Field.
