The Spring Hill College men's soccer team lost a non-conference match to the University of St. Thomas from Houston, Texas, by a score of 3-0 on Sunday afternoon at Library Field.
Following a scoreless first half, the Celts (5-3-2) scored first in the 53rd minute when Jad El Masri drove a right-to-left shot past SHC keeper junior Cory Bronenkamp of St. Louis, Mo. into the lower left corner of the goal.
Rafael Bustos then made the score 2-0 in the 67th minute when Bronenkamp stopped his first shot only to see the rebound deflect directly back to Bustos who buried the second shot into the back of the net.
El Masri added the final goal in the 85th minute.
Bronenkamp made six saves for the Badgers against 19 total Celt shot-attempts and St. Thomas' keeper Simon Lukas made three saves versus seven Badger shot-attempts.
The Celts attempted six corner kicks to just three by the Badgers.
Spring Hill (1-9, 0-0 GCAC) will next host LSU-Shreveport (3-3-1, 0-0 GCAC) at 5:30 p.m. at Library Field in the first GCAC match for the Badgers of 2009.
