The Spring Hill College women's soccer team took a 4-1 non-conference decision over Thomas University (Ga.) on Thursday afternoon at Library Field.
The Badgers' Jade Beason form Cincinnati, Ohio, opened the scoring in the 19th minute with a goal off a corner kick by sophomore forward Abby Galen of St. Louis, Mo.
Sophomore Elaine Femmer of St. Louis stretched the SHC lead out to 2-0 in the in the 74th minute when she accepted a beautifully placed crossing pass from freshman Sara Uptmor of Cape Girardeau, Mo., and drove home the score.
TU's Rachel Fell helped the Night Hawks claw back into the contest with a goal from distance in the 80th minute, but Femmer responded with her second goal with an assist by Beason just five minutes later.
Galen followed up just 27 seconds later with the sealing goal for a final score of 4-1.
SHC goalkeeper junior Emma Pitchford of Ridgeland, Miss., took the win with four saves against nine TU shot-attempts while Danielle Boissonneault made four saves versus 16 Badger shot attempts.
Spring Hill took four corner kicks and Thomas (4-6) took just three corners.
Spring Hill (6-6-1) will next play Faulkner University (7-5) in Montgomery at 6 p.m. on Monday.
