The Spring Hill College volleyball team closed out the 2009 season with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-16, 25-18) loss to Dillard University at the 2009 GCAC Volleyball Tournament on Thursday evening at Pharr Gymnasium.

Spring Hill (8-16) and the Lady Bleu Devils (10-13) battled point for point in the first half of Set Number 1 as the scored was tied at 9-9 before DU erupted for a 5-1 run that built a 15-10 advantage.  Dillard closed the set with a 4-2 run to win 25-17.

The second set saw the Lady Bleu Devils storm out to an 11-3 bulge and build as much as a 20-9 advantage before winning the set 25-16.

SHC regained its composure in the third set and took a 5-3 lead that later grew to 11-8, but Dillard answered, tying the set at 14-14.  A late 9-2 run by Dillard created a 23-16 tilt toward the Bleu Devils side as Dillard closed the match at 25-18.

Dillard now advances to the semifinal round beginning at noon on Saturday versus Loyola University (La.).
