On Saturday afternoon, the Spring Hill College women's basketball team fell to Freed-Hardeman University by the score of 94-48 in Henderson, Tenn.
Rated as high as No. 6 in the NAIA preseason polls, FHU (4-0) stormed out to a 45-20 lead at halftime and never looked back.
For the Badgers, freshman guard Kristin Rogers of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., scored 15 points while sophomore guard Kiara Parker of Ft. Walton Beach, junior Lynleigh Hughes of Hammond, La., and senior Robynetta Hargrave of Metairie, La., each had 5 rebounds.
The Lady Lions put four players into double figures as Meribeth Boehler led all scorers with 20 points. Maria Bagwell added 18 points with 9 rebounds while Natalie Shumpert poured in 15 points and Jana Cross had 13 points and 9 rebounds.
As a team the Lions out-rebounded SHC 58-32 and forced the Badgers into 19 turnovers while committing just 15 themselves.
FHU shot 47.9% (35-73) from the field including a 4-15 (26.7%) turn from the 3-point line. The Lady Badgers made 32.3% (21-65) of their attempts and suffered through a 1-12 (8.3%) dry spell from beyond the arc.
Spring Hill (0-2) now travels to Jackson, Tenn., on Sunday to face NAIA Preseason No. 9 Lambuth University (2-2) at 2 p.m.
