The University of North Alabama Lady Lions outlasted the Spring Hill College Lady Badgers 71-56 at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center on Tuesday evening.
Spring Hill held a 32-30 lead at the intermission, but UNA (3-4) came out of the locker room refocused and quickly built a 6-point advantage at 40-34.
For the Badgers, junior center Kimarie Bock of Dunedin, Fla., scored 20 points for the team-high and freshman guard Kristin Rogers of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., added 12 points to the Badgers' cause.
UNA was led by Niala Harris with 30 points and 12 rebounds while Sanqueeta Meardith scored 13 points for the Lady Lions.
The Lady Badgers made 37.9% (22-58) of their shots from the field and finally started hitting some outside shots by going 5-11 (45.5%) from 3-point range.
UNA, on the other hand, shot 45.9% (28-61) from the field and completed just six of their 29 (20.7%) 3-point attempts.
Spring Hill (0-4) will host the SHC Thanksgiving Classic on Friday and Saturday at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center. The University of Mobile (6-1) and Aquinas College (4-0) will open the event at 6 p.m. on Friday with Spring Hill and Davenport (5-1) following at 8 p.m.
