The Spring Hill College women's basketball team lost to Dillard University by a score of 94-73 on Saturday afternoon at A.W. Dent Gymnasium in New Orleans.
Too many Badger turnovers resulted in too many easy points on the opposite end of the court for Dillard as the Lady Bleu Devils built a 55-38 halftime lead and never looked back.
Jackie Higgenbotham, a freshman transfer from the University of Alabama playing in just her second SHC contest, led the Lady Badgers with 18 points off six 3-point baskets. She also topped the SHC rebounding list with seven boards.
Senior Kristi Ybarra of Gulf Shores, Ala., added 14 points while freshman Kristin Rogers of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., put in 13 points. Senior Robynetta Hargrave of Metairie, La., and junior Lynleigh Hughes of Hammond, La., each had 10 points for the Badger effort.
Overall, the Lady Badgers were 26-51 (51%) from the field. Dillard (8-5, 1-3 GCAC) made 37 of their 71 shots (52.1%).
Spring Hill (2-12, 0-4 GCAC) will next host LSU-Shreveport (8-3, 1-2 GCAC) on Thursday at 5: 30 p.m. During the game and the men's game that follows, Spring Hill College will be accepting donations to the Haitian Earthquake Relief Fund.
