The Spring Hill College men's basketball team downed the Dillard University Bleu Devils with an 89-79 decision at A.W. Dent Gym in New Orleans on Saturday afternoon.
Spring Hill held a 41-34 lead at halftime.
Four Badgers recorded double-digit offensive performances led by sophomore guard Antonio Burch with 24 points including a 13-of-15 night from the free-throw line. Junior center Nick Brown had 19 points and pulled down nine rebounds while senior forward Owen McNally from Long Beach, Miss., had 18 points.
Senior shooting guard Marcus Coleman, a Mary G. Montgomery graduate from Wilmer, Ala., had 11 points including three 3-point buckets.
Dillard (2-8, 0-4 GCAC) was led by guard James Burkes with 23 points and forward Mico Sjekloca added 10 points and eight rebounds.
The Badgers were 30-57 (52.6%) from the field and 5-13 (38.5%) from 3-point distance. The Bleu Devils made 28 of their 60 shots (46.7%) and hit just two of their 17 3-point attempts (11.8%).
The SHC defense forced Dillard into 13 turnovers in the face of five Badger steals while the Bleu Devils forced SHC into 14 turnovers off six steals.
Spring Hill (9-4, 3-1 GCAC) will next host No. 5 ranked LSU-Shreveport (13-2, 2-1 GCAC) at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. During the game, Spring Hill College will be accepting donations to the Haitian Earthquake Relief Fund.
