The Spring Hill College women's basketball team lost a 65-46 decision to No. 23 Xavier University (La.) on Thursday evening at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center.
Xavier led 30-21 at the half and continued to build on the lead with a strong inside and outside game.
Sophomore Jackie Higgenbotham scored 16 points for the Badgers and freshman Kristin Rogers scored 12 points. Senior Robynetta Hargrave pulled down eight rebounds for SHC.
Brittany Powell put 19 points in the basket for the Gold Nuggets (16-5, 10-0 GCAC) and Jasmine Grant added 11 points as every player on the Xavier roster scored in the game.
SHC shot 40% (16-40) from the field and 31.3% (5-16) from 3-point land while XU knocked in 46.2% (24-52) of their shots and 45.5% (5-11) of their 3-pointers.
Xavier out-rebounded Spring Hill 33-28. The Badgers committed 21 turnovers while XU fumbled the ball 13 times.
Spring Hill (2-18, 0-10 GCAC) will next travel to William Carey University in Hattiesburg, Miss., on Saturday to face the Blazers at 5 p.m.
