The Spring Hill College men's basketball team lost a 69-48 decision to conference foe William Carey University on Saturday night in Hattiesburg, Miss.
Carey (18-4, 8-3 GCAC) held a 29-17 advantage at halftime and pulled away in the second half via the hot 3-point shooting hand of Brandon Cooks.
Spring Hill was led by junior center Nick Brown with 18 points and senior guard Patrick Grant with eight rebounds.
The Crusaders saw three players reach double digits as Cooks had 16 points and Drew Meyerchick along with Cory Smith added 14 points each. Cook also had a game-high 11 rebounds for William Carey.
The Badgers shot 36.2% (21-58) from the field and just 9.1% (2-22) from 3-point range. Carey was 41.3% (26-63) and 30.4% (7-23) from 3-point distance.
Carey won the rebound war 40 to 38 and SHC gave the ball away 21 times while WCU had 15 turnovers.
Spring Hill (10-10, 4-7 GCAC) will travel to New Orleans, La., on Monday to face the Knights (6-11, 1-8 GCAC) of Southern University in New Orleans (SUNO) at 7:30 p.m. in "The Castle."
