The Spring Hill College men's basketball team continued to struggle in a 79-61 loss at conference foe and 25th rated Tougaloo College on Thursday night.
Tougaloo College (17-6, 8-5 GCAC) held a 39-24 lead at the halftime intermission.
Senior guard Marcus Coleman scored a team-high 24 points off eight 3-point baskets while junior center Nick Brown dropped in 20 points with 13 rebounds.
Coleman's 24-point effort moved him into 12th place on the SHC All-Time Leading Scorers list with 1,476 points in his career.
Keith Fisher scored 25 for Tougaloo to lead all scorers and Jejuan Jacks added 14 points for the Bulldogs. James Carter came off the Tougaloo bench to pitch in another 11 points. Sylvester Collins pulled in an impressive 17 rebounds.
SHC shot 37.9% (25-66) from the field and 42.1% (8-19) from 3-point land while Tougaloo made 32-of-86 (37.2%) shots and shot 32% (8-25) from 3-point territory.
Tougaloo controlled the boards taking down 50 rebounds and allowing SHC just 34 boards. The Badgers turned the ball over 19 times and the Bulldogs fumbled it away 12 times.
Spring Hill (10-12, 4-9 GCAC) will play four of their final five regular season games at home beginning with Dillard University (2-16, 0-12 GCAC) on Saturday at 7 p.m. in the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center.
