The Spring Hill College women's basketball team lost an 89-48 decision to long-time rival and conference foe Loyola-New Orleans on Thursday evening.
The Wolfpack jumped out to a 20-4 lead early in the game on the way to a 46-25 lead at the intermission. SHC scored the first five points of the second half, but could pull no closer as Loyola coasted to the 89-48 final.
SHC was led by senior Robynetta Hargrave with 17 points and freshman Kristin Rogers who pulled down eight rebounds.
The Wolfpack had five players break into double-digit scoring led by Colette Morris with 22 points and Trenese Smith with 14 points. Amy Sprout scored 12 points off the bench while Amy Perkins and Megen Berner each dropped in 11 points.
As a team, the Badgers shot 30% (18-60) and just 11.8% (2-17) from 3-point distance. The Wolfpack was 47.8% (32-67) overall and 35% (7-20) in 3-point attempts.
Loyola (18-9, 12-5 GCAC) also out-rebounded the Badgers 48-34 on the boards. The Badgers committed 21 turnovers off 16 Loyola steals while the Wolfpack surrendered the ball just 10 times off four SHC steals.
Spring Hill (3-24, 1-16 GCAC) will wrap up the regular season on Saturday night by hosting archrival the University of Mobile (15-11, 7-9 GCAC) at 5 p.m. Before the game, the Badgers will honor the Senior Class of 2010 with their annual Senior Night ceremonies.
