The Spring Hill College softball team was swept in a doubleheader on Monday by No. 8 ranked Martin Methodist College by the scores of 8-0 and 2-0 at Murray Field.
The first game saw the RedHawks (13-4) and the Badgers scoreless after two innings of play before MMC posted a 5-run 3rd inning behind two fielding errors by Spring Hill. Amber Kinsey provided the biggest blow of the frame with a 2-run double down the left field line that was followed later in the inning with a 2-run single by Chae Ellis.
Sam Brooks (2-5) took the loss for the Badgers lasting three innings giving up no earned runs, six hits, one walk and no strikeouts.
Katlin White went the distance in the win for the RedHawks allowing just three hits, 2 walks and nine strikeouts. Kinsey and Ellis both had two of Martin Methodist's 11 hits.
The second game saw the Badgers fall 2-0 and suffer their third consecutive shutout.
Spring Hill (5-9) will next play Park University (Mo.) in a single game on Thursday at 11 a.m. on Murray Field. Wednesday's home doubleheader versus Belhaven University has been postponed until Monday, April 12 at 1 p.m.
