The Spring Hill College softball team finished off a sweep of the 2-day Thomas University Invitational with a 5-2 victory over LSU-Alexandria and a 2-1 win over the hosting Thomas Night Hawks. The wins gave SHC a perfect 4-0 record at this weekend's event.
In the first game, starter Sam Brooks (6-8) went the distance allowing just three hits with two walks and four strikeouts.
Haley Brown of Satsuma High School enjoyed a 3-for-4 game and Kayla McCraney from Mobile Christian had two of the Badgers' 10 total hits. Citronelle High's Mallory Sullivan connected for her first homerun as a collegiate player.
The final match up of the weekend saw SHC win 2-1 over Thomas with Brittany Abate (4-0) bringing home the win by scattering five hits with two walks and two strikeouts.
Brown continued her hot streak at the plate by belting out a 2-for-3 performance and Sullivan was 2-for-2 as the Badgers tallied six hits in total.
Spring Hill (12-13, 2-0 GCAC) pushed its current winning streak to six games and will visit 6th ranked William Carey University (17-6, 0-0 GCAC) for a conference doubleheader in Hattiesburg, Miss., on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
