The 25th-ranked University of Mobile softball team pulled out a pair of late-inning wins versus Spring Hill College in GCAC action at Mobile Friday. The Lady Rams won the opener 2-1 in 8 innings and then won the finale 2-0.
The opener saw Mobile's Victoria Buie and Spring Hill's Samantha Brooks do battle with Brooks coming out the tough-luck loser after allowing two unearned tallies on nine hits in seven innings.
Buie got a no-decision after giving up one unearned score on two hits in seven innings while fanning eight and walking one Badger. Leslie Pickette grabbed the win with a perfect inning of relief.
Using the international tie breaker, both teams started the 8th inning with a runner on second base. The Badgers came up empty in the top half of the 8th, but Ally Scott came through for Mobile (23-10, 6-0 GCAC) with a RBI-double to win the game. Scott finished 2-for-4 with an RBI, while Desiree Truett was also 2-for-4.
Spring Hill struck first in the 5th inning when they turned a pair of Mobile errors into an unearned tally. Nicole Walker tied it up for the Lady Rams with a 2-out, RBI single to center.
The finale was scoreless through 5.5 innings before Jessica Swanson produced an RBI-single to center for the Lady Rams in the bottom of the 6th frame.
Kamaron Strickland picked up the win with seven innings of 7-hit shutout ball. She struck out 7 and walked 1. Brittany Abate took the loss after giving up one earned run on seven hits in six innings of action. Abate fanned six Rams with one walk.
Truett was 2-for-3 with one run scored for Mobile while Swanson was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Mallory Sullivan was 2-for-3 for Spring Hill.
Truett and Erica Bracey came through with back-to-back one out singles in the 6th inning, and then Swanson provided the single to center that was misplayed by the Badgers, allowing Bracey to score from first base.

Spring Hill (12-17, 2-4 GCAC) will host Lindenwood University (12-10) in a 2 p.m. doubleheader Saturday at Murray Field.
