Spring Hill College's Joe Carter and Ryan Cummings swept both weekly GCAC Player of the Week Awards as selected by the Sports Information Directors of the member institutions.
Carter, a junior from Theodore, Ala., pitched a complete-game 12-0 shutout against
15th-ranked Belhaven University on Saturday. The 6'2" right-hander allowed just five hits and three walks with three strikeouts. Carter is now 4-2 on the year with a 3.57 ERA and 20 strikeouts in 45.1 innings pitched.
This week marks the fourth time a Badger pitcher has won the GCAC Pitcher of the Week Award for 2010.
Cummings, a sophomore shortstop from Mobile's McGill-Toolen Catholic High School, was 14-for-21 (.667) for the week including a 6-for-6 performance at Selma University on Tuesday. Cumming's day at Selma tied the NAIA record for second most hits in a single game and he currently leads the NAIA with 73 total hits and 164 at bats this season.
