The Spring Hill College women's golf team stands in second place after Monday's first round of play at the NAIA Unaffiliated Play-In Round at Bull Creek Golf Course in Columbus, Ga.
The Badgers shot a combined 335 (+47) across the par-72, 5965-yard course and trail 1st place Shorter College by just three strokes going into Tuesday's final round.
Individually, senior Shea Bowers of Mobile's Murphy High School is in 3rd place out of 47 golfers with a +8 (80).
Junior Victoria Gonzalez of Miami, Fla., and sophomore AnnMarie Coan of St. Louis, Mo., are tied for 11th position with scores of 84 (+12). Freshman Chelsea Mayer from Baton Rouge, La., stands in 16th place at +15 (87). Senior Kim Penix of Pelham, Ala., carded a +20 (92) for 23rd place.
The SHC ladies will tee off Tuesday morning in the event's final round with an automatic bid to the 2010 NAIA Women's Golf Champions in Rapid City, S.D., on May 25-28 on the line.
