Spring Hill College sophomore Monica Zeringue was named the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference's Softball Player of the Week on Tuesday following an outstanding performance on the diamond during the week of April 19-15.
The Badger shortstop and Destrehan, La. native, hit for the cycle in the first game of a doubleheader at Dillard University on Tuesday to open a week in which she hit for an incredible .813 average (13-of-16) including two doubles, a triple and two homeruns. She scored 11 runs and drove in 11 RBI while building a slugging percentage of 1.438. For the season, Zeringue holds a .436 batting average.
The Badgers will next play Dillard University in the first round of the 2010 GCAC Tournament in Gulf Shores on Thursday at 3 p.m. in Gulf Shores, Ala.
