The Spring Hill College men's golf team's 2010 season drew to a close with a third round score of 315 (+31) at the 2010 NAIA Men's Golf National Championships on TPC at Deere Run on Thursday morning to finish the event with an overall combined team score of 976 (330, 331, 315, +124).
After 54 holes, the Badgers missed the 17-team cut for the final round on Friday and finished in the final position out of 29 teams despite shaving 16 strokes off their previous day's total.
Senior Will Loweth of Houston, Texas, shot a +7 on Thursday and closed out the tournament standing at +27 (83, 79, 78; 240).
Junior Javier Portal of Miami, Fla., shot a +5 to record Spring Hill's best round of the event that included an eagle of the 17th hole and finished with a +30 (83, 84, 76; 243). Freshman Joseph Webster from Trussville, Ala., knocked six strokes from yesterday's score to finish at +34 (85, 84, 78; 247).
Junior Chuck Balsamico of Covington, La., carded a total score of +35 (80, 85, 83; 248) while Eddie Smith, a junior from Houston, turned in his third consecutive +13 performance to finish at +39 (84, 84, 84; 252).
