The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced that Spring Hill College men's tennis players Nick Rayburn and Chris Link have been named 2009-10 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athletes.
Rayburn (left), a senior from Louisville, Ky., graduated this spring with a dual major in History and Political Science. He has appeared on the Scholar Athlete roll for the second consecutive season and is a 3-three time member of the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC) Academic Honor Roll.
Link (right), a junior from St. Louis, Mo., is a Finance/Economics major with a minor in Writing. He is also a 2-two time GCAC Academic Honor Roll selection.
Since the award was introduced in 1979, 106 SHC student-athletes have received Scholar Athlete recognition from the NAIA.
A total of 80 men's tennis players were named 2010 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes. Nominated by each institution's head coach, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and have achieved junior academic status to qualify.
