The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced that Spring Hill College softball player Jessica Edgar has been named a 2010 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete.
Edgar, a junior infielder from St. Louis, Mo., majors in Integrated Communications with a minor in Business Administration. She collected 15 hits in 35 games played this season including three doubles and a triple.
Since the award was introduced in 1979, 107 SHC student-athletes have received Scholar Athlete recognition from the NAIA.
A total of 275 softball players were named 2010 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes. Nominated by each institution's head coach, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and have achieved junior academic status to qualify.
