The fresh start for the 2010 Spring Hill College women's soccer team will feature not only a new head coach in Christian Devries, but 13 new faces.
The new Badgers are made up of 10 freshmen, a transfer, a dual-sport student-athlete from the women's tennis squad and a returning player who sat out the 2009 campaign.
"I am excited about the 2010 roster and the addition of each of these players," said DeVries. "With a roster of this size [27 players], we will be able to develop a competitive environment on the practice field that will allow us to field a more competitive team on the game field. This group of players brings a wealth of soccer knowledge to the team including state, regional, national and international experience. They also bring the academic knowledge with them as they have been leaders in the classroom as well."
The athletic accomplishments for this class include several All-Conference awards at the collegiate level along with numerous state tournament appearances and two state championships during their prep careers. Many of the new Badgers have won recognition as state and regional Olympic Development Players and served as team captains at the prep and club level.
Off the field, the 2010 class includes National Honors Society members, Dean's List honorees and National Merit Scholars.
