MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Spring Hill College women's soccer team picked up its first win of the season with a 6-1 upset of NCAA Division 1 opponent Alabama State University on Tuesday night at Hornets Stadium.
Alabama State (1-4) and SHC were tied a 1-1 at halftime, but the Badgers exploded for five unanswered goals in the second half for the victory.
Sophomore midfielder Sarah Uptmor of Cape Girardeau, Mo., scored the first goal while junior Katie Pendergast of St. Louis, Mo., scored goals No. 2 and 4 en route to a career-high effort of five points.
Junior Amber O'Connor from Lake Ham, Minn., punched in the third goal and freshman Alexandra Collier of Mooreville, Ala., scored the fifth goal for the Badgers. Sophomore Jade Beason of Cincinnati, Ohio, closed out the scoring with a sixth goal.
Spring Hill (1-3) will next host Southern Wesleyan University (1-1) on Library Field this Saturday at 1 p.m.
