MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Spring Hill College volleyball swept through the second day of the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) Divisional Crossover Tournament, sweeping both Brenau University and Columbia College (S.C) by 3-0 scores. SHC won the morning match with Brenau 25-10, 25-18, 25-7 and then defeated Columbia 25-20, 25-14, 25-11.
Yiting Cao, a junior right side hitter from Shanghai, China, recorded 27 total kills and 17 digs for the Badgers in the two matches while Abbey Roam, a junior outside hitter from Lebanon, Mo., had 18 kills,18 digs and four aces.
Freshman SHC setter Taryn Nash of Independence, Mo., dished out 58 assists and freshman libero Meredith Donald of Mobile's McGill-Toolen pulled in 22 digs. Freshman Sha Sha Buchanan from McGill-Toolen added two blocks and 16 kills to the Badgers' tallies.
Spring Hill (5-1, 1-0 SSAC) will travel to New Orleans on Tuesday to face conference rival Loyola University (5-5, 0-0 SSAC) in The Den at 7 p.m.
