The Spring Hill College women's soccer team were downed by the University of West Florida by a final score of 7-1 on Wednesday afternoon at Library Field.
Shakira Duncan of UWF (4-2) scored goals in the 5th, 29th and 32nd minutes to stake the Argos to a 3-0 lead before sophomore Sarah Uptmor of Cape Girardeau, Mo., put a goal into the net for the Badgers in the 33rd minute.
Duncan would also assist on goals by Monica Malavassi in the 42nd minute and Jodi-Ann Robinson in the 61st minute. Sarah Fagler scored for UWF in the 56th minute and Kaitlyn Kutemeyer added the 7th and final goal for the Argos in the 88th minute of play.
Senior Emma Pitchford started in goal for the Badgers and made 3 saves against 12 UWF shots while freshman Cassandra Amore took over for the second frame and made one save versus 7 shots by the Argos.
Lauren Byrd and Ryan Ali of UWF combined for 4 saves against 10 SHC shots.
Spring Hill (3-4) will travel to Clinton, Miss., on Saturday to face NCAA Division 3 foe Mississippi College (5-0-1) beginning at 4 p.m.
