CLINTON, Miss. - The Spring Hill College women's soccer team fell to the Mississippi Choctaws 3-2 on Saturday afternoon.
The Choctaws (7-0-1) opened the scoring with a goal in the 2nd minute of play off the foot of Christy Wyne, but the Badgers answered back in the 14th minute when junior Amber O'Connor of Ham Lake, Minn., took a pass from senior Kasey Pruett of Flower Mound, Texas, and found the back of the net to knot the score at one goal apiece.
The score remained at 1-1 through the intermission, but Miss. College's Lesly Melo made the score 2-1 in favor of the home team in the 54th minute.
Just 51 seconds later, however, freshman Molly Cowley from Jefferson City, Mo., punched in a goal for SHC to make it a 2-2 game in the 55th minute.
Molly Dearborn would then put MC ahead to stay in the 64th minute off an assist by Melo.
SHC goalkeeper Emma Pitchford from nearby Ridgeland, Miss., made two saves versus eight Choctaw shots while Bethany Roberson made five saves for MC against 24 Badger shots.
Spring Hill (3-5) will travel to Thomasville, Ga., on Thursday to face Thomas University (4-4) beginning at 2 p.m.
