ROME, Ga. - The Spring Hill College women's golf team finished in 9th place out of 18 teams at the close of the final day at the Chick-fil-A Collegiate Invitational hosted by Berry University at Stonebridge Golf Course.
SHC shot a two-round team score of +129 (354, 351, 705) over the 72-par, 5835-yard course to finish 78 strokes back of tournament champion Shorter University who held a final score of +51 (317, 310, 627).
Individually, freshman Avery Kyle, of Frisco, Texas, took 10 shots off her last appearance by shooting a +15 (81, 78, 159) to finish in 6th place while freshman Katie Callahan from Prairie Village, Kan., closed in a tie for 38th position with +27 (87, 84, 171).
Freshman Elena Hall from Mobile's Faith Academy carded a +41 (89, 96, 185) to finish in 61st place out of 99 golfers. Freshman Audrey Dombrowski of St. Louis, Mo., placed 68th with a +46 score (97, 93, 190). Freshman Shelley Husband of Pass Christian, Miss., suffered an unfortunate disqualification (DQ, 111) on the 1st day of her initial collegiate event.
Spring Hill's women will next compete on Saturday and Sunday at the Southern Shootout hosted by Birmingham-Southern College at Highland Park Golf Course in Birmingham, Ala.
