MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Spring Hill College volleyball pushed its current winning streak to 11 games with a pair of victories in the opening day of the Faulkner University Invitational on Friday. The day began with a 3-0 late morning sweep of Brewton-Parker College by the scores of 25-13, 25-11, 25-8 and it wrapped up with an afternoon Badger victory over Lindsey Wilson College (6-18) in straight sets 25-19, 25-15, 25-20.
In the win over Brewton-Parker (13-6), junior Yiting Cao of Shanghai, China, logged 13 kills while freshman Taryn Nash from Independence, Mo., dished out 29 assists. Meredith Donald of Mobile's McGill-Toolen pulled in 19 digs and junior Abbey Roam from Lebanon, Mo., had 15 digs.
In the night cap versus Lindsey Wilson (6-18), Cao had 15 more kills and Nash duplicated her 29 assist effort of the morning match. Nash also added 12 digs to her totals. Donald and Roam also contributed 10 digs each to Badger cause.
Spring Hill (16-2) will remain in Montgomery on Saturday to face Martin Methodist College (11-13) at 9 a.m. and Asbury University (19-1) at 1 p.m.
