SILVIS, Ill. - The Spring Hill College men's golf team finished in 14th place out of 18 teams at the final round of the NAIA Preview Invitational hosted by St. Ambrose University at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill., on Friday.
SHC shot a two-round team score of +65 (318, 315, 633) to finish 47 strokes behind Tournament Champion Grand View University that carded a +18 (295, 291, 586).
Individually, senior Eddie Smith of Houston, Texas, shot a +14 (79, 77, 156) over the 6625-yard, par 71 course to finish tied for 43rd place out of 90 golfers while senior Ricky Escobar of Miami, Fla., shot +15 (82, 75, 157) for 47th place.
Sophomore Nathan Ceille of Hales Corner, Wis., placed 54th with a +16 (73, 85, 158) and senior Javier Portal of Miami, Fla., recorded a score of +22 (86, 78, 164) to close out the scoring for SHC.
Freshman Rickie Lee, Jr., of Bayou LaBattre, Ala., placed 86th individually with a score of 173 (84, 89).
Grand View's Josh Manske was the tournament's individual champion with a score of -1 (72, 69, 141).
Spring Hill's men will next play at the Lake Caroline Invitational held on October 24-26 at Lake Caroline Golf Course in Madison, Miss.
