OAKVILLE, Ala. - The Spring Hill College men's cross country team finished 8th of 9 teams at the Oakville Cherokee Trails Invitational hosted by the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) on Saturday morning.
As a team, the Badgers scored 200 points and averaged 29:45 over the 8-kilometer course and finished in a total team time of 2:28:43, shaving almost three minutes off their time of two weeks prior.
Junior Will Kirkikis of Kenner, La., was the top SHC finisher with a 26th place finish out of 70 runners in a time of 28:03.5, marking the 21st best time in SHC Men's program history over the 8k distance.
Sophomore Thomas Kinsey of Fairhope, Ala., scored for the Badgers with a 42nd place finish in a time of 29:17.3 - almost 10 seconds faster than his last outing.
Freshman Brennan Gaffney of St. Louis, Mo., took 12 seconds off his last time and finished in 51st position in 29:44.00.
Junior Christian Boyer of Mobile's McGill-Toolen finished in 57th place at 30:16.5 shaving almost a full minute off his results from two weeks ago. Freshman Eric Mooney of Willoughby Hills, Ohio, was 64th in 31:19.8 and freshman Fritz Boudreaux of Pensacola, Fla., was 65th in a time of 31:29.9 to closeout the SHC scoring.
The Badgers next run on Saturday, November 6, at the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) Championships in Gulfport, Miss., at 8 a.m.
