Spring Hill College volleyball took a hard-fought 3-0 conference decision over the Loyola University (La.) Wolfpack by the score of 25-10, 25-23, 25-23 on Tuesday night at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center to move into a first place tie with the University of Mobile atop the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) West Division.
Junior right side hitter Yiting Cao of Shanghai, China, was dominating on offense piling up 21 kills for the Badgers and compiling a .529 attack percentage along with a service ace.
Freshman setter Taryn Nash of Independence, Mo., gave out 40 assists and fellow freshman libero Meredith Donald of Mobile's McGill-Toolen had 21 digs to go with 18 receptions.
Sha Sha Buchanan, also a freshman from McGill-Toolen, made three solo blocks.
Overall, Spring Hill racked up 45 kills for an attack percentage of .263 with four service aces, 66 digs and five total team blocks.
For the Wolfpack (21-12, 4-2 SSAC), Gina Gill had 10 kills with 18 digs and 23 receptions. As a team, Loyola had 33 kills, but managed just a .101 attack percentage to go along with 53 digs, three blocks and six aces.
This was the Badgers 18th consecutive win on the season and their 11th consecutive shutout. Spring Hill has yet to lose a set at home this season.
Spring Hill (23-2, 5-1 SSAC) will next step out of conference to host NCAA Division 2 opponent the University of Alabama-Huntsville (9-20) at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center on Saturday at 7 p.m.
