The Spring Hill College women's basketball team opened the 2010-11 season with a resounding 85-44 win over Selma University at the University of Mobile Port City Tip Off Classic at the H. Austill Pharr Gymnasium on Friday evening.
The Badgers' senior center Kimarie Bock of Dunedin, Fla., scored 27 points to lead all scorers while freshman guard Bria Bohanan of Ponchatoula, La., added 16 points and junior forward Erica Wright of Pace, Fla. pitched in 10 points and six rebounds.
Selma (0-2) was paced by Marquita McMurray's 10 points.
Overall, SHC shot 30-of-55 (54.5%) from the field and made a total of 22 free throws off 33 attempts (66.7%) while holding Selma to 25.45  (15-59) from the field and just 1-of-15 (6.7%) from 3-point range.
Spring Hill (1-0) will face Martin Methodist College (2-1) at 1 p.m. on Saturday afternoon at the final day of Port City Classic.
