The Spring Hill College women's basketball team defeated the Dillard University Lady Bleu Devils 75-65 at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center on Monday evening.
The Badgers held a slim 33-30 lead at the intermission after falling behind 5-0 to open the match.
Spring Hill quickly built out a 10-point lead at 44-34 just two minutes into the second period reversing a recent trend of the Badgers that saw them coming out the locker room cold after halftime.
Dillard briefly cut the lead to 48-42 with 10 minutes remaining, but the Badgers kept the Lady Bleu Devils at a double digit margin for most of remainder of the contest.
Senior center Kimarie Bock of Dunedin, Fla., scored 20 points for SHC and sophomore Jackie Higgenbotham from Birmingham, Ala., put 12 points in the buckets for the Badgers.
Smith had 21 points and Ariel Mitchell scored 19 for Dillard.
Overall, the Badgers shot 40.6% (28-69) from the field including 22.7% (5-22) from beyond the arc, and suffered just 10 turnovers.
The Bleu Devils (5-7) went 24 of 52 from the field (46.2%) and were 4 of 16 (25%) from 3-point land as a team. Dillard outrebounded SHC 39-37.
Spring Hill (3-4) will host Brenau University (5-0) at 5:30 p.m. Friday at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center.
