JACKSON, Miss. - Jenirro Bush scored a game-high 23 points to lead the Jackson State Tigers to an 80-32 exhibition victory over the Spring Hill College Badgers in men's basketball action Tuesday night at the Lee E. Williams Athletics and Assembly Center.
Bush went 9-16 from the field, including going 4-8 from three-point range. He also pulled down three rebounds in 24 minutes of play. Tyrone Hanson followed with an efficient 12 point performance. He went 4-8 from the field, 4-7 in threes. He also had four rebounds and three assists. Grant Maxey scored 10 points in his first start of the season. He was perfect from the field and the free throw line, going 3-3 and 4-4. Jamarious Sykes came off the bench to score nine points on 3-6 shooting.
Stephen Burches led Spring Hill (4-3) with nine points.
Jackson State (3-7) led 37-22 in the first half. In the first half JSU shot 43.3% from the field and held Spring Hill to 33%. In the second half the Tigers turned up the defensive effort holding the Badgers to 9.5% shooting from the field. Spring Hill scored 10 points in the second half and JSU exploded offensively with 43 points. The Tigers also out-rebounded Spring Hill 49-28 and forced 20 Badger turnovers.
Spring Hill will next play at Southern University-New Orleans (SUNO) (3-5) on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in The Castle.
