The Spring Hill College women's basketball team lost a 76-54 conference home decision to Belhaven University at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center on Saturday afternoon.
The visiting Blazers held a slim 30-27 advantage at halftime but then built out as much as an 18-point lead in the second half.
Spring Hill was led in both scoring and rebounding by senior center Kimarie Bock of Dunedin, Fla., with 17 points and eight rebounds. Fellow senior Lynleigh Hughes of Hammond, La., scored 12 points from her forward position.
Regena Jackson led all scorers with 23 points and Erica Laflore added 10 points and 10 rebounds to the Belhaven cause.
The Badgers shot 32.7% (18-55) from the field and just 15.4% (2-13) from 3-point territory. Spring Hill was also out-rebounded by the Lady Blazer 48-35. SHC forced Belhaven into 15 turnovers with six steals by the Badgers.
For Belhaven (17-5, 5-1 SSAC West), the Lady Blazers shot 43.3% (29-67) and a blistering 55.6% (5-9) from beyond the 3-point line while forcing Spring Hill into 18 turnovers off 13 steals.
Spring Hill (8-14, 1-4 SSAC West) will visit West Division foe William Carey University (6-11, 2-3 SSAC West) on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in Hattiesburg, Miss.
