MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Spring Hill College men's basketball team lost a conference road game by the score of 68-51 at Auburn University Montgomery (AUM) on Thursday night at the AUM P.E. Complex.
Trailing 33-25 at the intermission, the Badgers fell down by as much as 12 points early in the second period, but mounted a furious comeback to cut the Senator advantage to just three points at 42-39 with 15 minutes on the clock.
The Senators, however, rallied back to rebuild a 14 point advantage with eight minutes remaining and cruised to the 68-51 victory.
Junior guard Steve Edwards from Newton, Miss., and senior center Nick Brown of Rota, Spain, paced the SHC effort with 15 points apiece.
AUM was led by Stephen Jordan with 14 points and nine rebounds, Alex Hergott with 12 points and Marquez Brooks with 10 points.
The Badgers finished the night shooting 39.6% (19-48) from the field and 30.8% (4-13) from 3-point territory. SHC pulled down 31 rebounds and turned the ball over 14 times in the face of seven AUM steals.
The Senators (7-15, 4-4 SSAC West) shot 45.6% (26-57) from the field and made 22.2% (4-18) of their 3-point attempts. The Senators turned the ball over just nine times while pulling in 37 rebounds.
Spring Hill (7-14, 2-6 SSAC West) will host non-conference foe Clearwater Christian College (9-12) from Florida on Saturday at 3 p.m. in the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center.
