SELMA, Ala. - Spring Hill College's baseball team swept a non-conference doubleheader from the Concordia College-Selma Hornets on Tuesday afternoon by the scores of 4-1 and 4-0.
In the first game, sophomore right hander James Maughn (1-1) from Atlanta, Ga., picked up his first win of the year while sophomore Casey Adams of Brooksville, Fla., recorded his first career save with two innings of work. At the plate, sophomore John Hollingsworth from Spanish Fort High School collected two hits for Spring Hill.
The second game saw freshman lefty Tyler Hutson (1-1) from St. Louis, Mo., and junior Stephen Herrington of Mary G. Montgomery High School combine for the 4-0 shutout. Herring added his second save of 2011 and junior Kendell Carvin of Murphy High school had two of the Badgers' three hits in the nightcap.
The Badgers (4-4) will host non-conference foe the Thomas University (Ga.) Night Hawks (6-3) in a 3-game set this weekend beginning with a single game on Friday at 5 p.m. and a noon doubleheader on Saturday at historic Stan Galle Field.
