MONTGOMERY, Ala. - At the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) Crossover Tournament hosted by Faulkner University, the Spring Hill College softball team dropped a 16-2outcome in five innings to the 7th ranked Lee University Flames on Friday afternoon.
The Flames (4-0) pounded out six runs in the first inning, five in the second and added five more in the fourth to seal the victory. In total, Lee ripped out 19 hits including five doubles, a triple and two homeruns.
For Spring Hill, senior Brooke Turlich of Belle Chasse, La., was 2-for-2 with a stolen base.
On the rubber, senior Sam Brooks (0-2) of Belle Chasse suffered the loss with one walk and four strikeouts.
Caitlin Beshears (2-0) took the win surrendering just five hits and one earned run with three walks and two strikeouts.
SHC (1-2) will continue play in the tournament on Saturday versus Truett-McConnell College (0-3) at 9 a.m. and 10th ranked Shorter University (2-2) at 11 a.m.
