The Spring Hill College baseball team lost both ends of a non-conference doubleheader with Thomas University (Ga.) on Saturday afternoon by the scores of 9-2 and 5-3 at Stan Galle Field.
In the first game, the visiting Night Hawks (9-4) blew open a 2-2 game when a fielding error by the Badger infield with two outs resulted in five unearned run crossing the plate.
Second baseman Brian Sims and shortstop Ryan Cummings each had a hit and an RBI for the Badger cause while second baseman Alex Williams was 2-for-3 with three RBI for the Night Hawks.
SHC starter Joe Carter (1-2) went five innings and allowed 10 hits, four walks and three strikeouts.
Jacob Davis (2-1) picked up the complete-game victory with five hits, one walk and seven strikeouts.
The nightcap saw the Badgers load the bases in the bottom of the 7th inning, but fail to pick up the timely hit as Thomas won 5-3.
The Badgers (5-6) will host non-conference foe Tougaloo College (0-10) in a single game on Friday and in a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 1 p.m. on historic Stan Galle Field.
